Tried keeping my compost bin in the freezer instead of under the sink

After 3 weeks without any smell or fruit flies I realized the cold stops decomposition completely so now I just thaw scraps before adding them to the bokashi bucket, has anyone else tried this freezer method for small apartments?

Freezer trick is genius honestly. Keeps the fruit flies away and zero smell, that's a win in any tiny apartment. Just remember to thaw em out before they hit the bokashi or you're just making ice cubes. Might steal this method for the summer months.

Honestly I've been doing this for a while but I found out the hard way that if you forget to thaw them and dump frozen scraps straight into the bucket, the bokashi takes forever to break down and you end up with this weird half frozen sludge on top. Tbh what nobody talks about is how the condensation from thawing can make your bucket too wet if you don't drain it properly. I started wrapping the scraps in paper towel before freezing them and it soaks up the extra moisture so the bokashi stays at the right level.
