A landlord's offhand comment about my dryer vent job hit harder than my certification classes

He said 'you're the first tech who actually pulled the lint trap and checked the full run, everyone else just patches the thermostat' and it made me realize how many of us skip the boring basics for the flashy fixes. Has anyone else had a customer or contractor say something simple that made you rethink your whole checklist?
