Customer argued with me for 20 minutes about a clicking fridge compressor

Had a lady in Des Moines insist her 3 year old fridge didn't need a new start relay even after I showed her the burnt one. She kept saying her brother-in-law could fix it with a paperclip. Walked away from the call and she called back two days later after the freezer thawed out. Has anyone else had customers fight you on an easy 40 dollar fix before?

Fifty bucks says her brother-in-law already tried the paperclip trick on his own fridge and it worked for a week before the compressor locked up. People get attached to these cut-rate fixes because they read one YouTube comment and suddenly they're appliance engineers. I get the appeal of a free fix, but a start relay is literally a thirty second swap, and the part costs less than a tank of gas. She probably spent more in spoiled food than the repair would've set her back, and honestly, that's on her for trusting a guy who thinks a paperclip is a legitimate electrical component.
