Debate: Do you clear the error codes on a new install or leave them for the customer?
I was out in Austin last week replacing a control board on a Samsung fridge. Got it all hooked up and working, but there were like 5 old error codes stored in the memory. The customer was watching me the whole time and asked if those meant the fridge was still broken. I told her they were old codes but now I'm wondering if I should clear them before leaving next time. What do you all do in that situation?

Man, I had almost the exact same thing happen last month with a GE dishwasher install. Customer saw these old codes on the display and freaked out, thought I broke something. I always clear them now before I even hand the remote or control panel back to them. It just saves that awkward conversation where you have to explain that the fridge was acting up before you touched it. Plus it makes you look more professional when the screen is clean and ready to go.

So you're basically doing free tech support for appliances you didn't install?
