Guy called me yesterday saying his dryer was possessed. Turned out he just put a tennis ball in there with his sneakers.
I get at least one call a month about some "haunted" or "possessed" appliance. Nine times out of ten it's something dumb like a coin stuck in the drum or a kid's toy jammed in the vent. How do you not check the drum before calling a repair guy? Has anyone else dealt with these "ghost in the machine" calls where it's just user error?

Man, I read somewhere that appliance repair guys get these calls all the time. One guy said someone called about their fridge making noises and it was just a bag of chips rustling inside. People really don't bother to look before calling.

Right, and it's not just the fridge stuff either. Had a buddy who does dryer repairs and he showed me a photo of a lady's lint trap completely COVERED in dryer sheets. She was calling because the dryer wouldn't dry anything. Just needed to peel those things off and it was fine. People also call about washing machines shaking like crazy and it's just a single mattress pad thrown in there, totally off balance. Ten seconds of looking could save everyone a hundred bucks.
