Picked OEM part over cheap knockoff for a Whirlpool washer lid switch.
After three replacements in six months I spent the extra $40 on the genuine part. Has anyone else had luck with aftermarket parts or do you stick with OEM?

Swallowed my pride and shelled out for the OEM part on my dryer's thermal fuse after burning through three cheap ones. The last knockoff melted so bad I thought my laundry room was going to catch fire. Now I just laugh every time I see the $8 generic parts online, knowing I'm basically paying a 400% "stupid tax" for the piece of mind that the thing won't die in a month. My wallet still hurts but at least the dryer actually dries clothes now without giving me anxiety.

That whole cheap vs. genuine thing plays out with so many appliances now. It feels like everything is designed to barely work with anything other than the real part from the manufacturer. You pay more upfront but you don't have to mess with it again for years, so it's usually a better deal in the long run.
