Shoutout to the customer who watched me work for 45 minutes
Had a call last week in Arlington for a fridge that wasn't cooling. Lady stood right behind me the whole time asking questions while I pulled the compressor. She asked why I didn't just bang on it like her husband does. I wanted to walk out right there. Anyone else get customers who think they know better after watching one YouTube video?

Stand your ground and set the boundary right from the start... I tell people straight up "I need quiet to focus on the tech stuff or I might miss something important." They usually back off after that. Also, if they start asking a ton of questions, I just say "I'll explain everything once I find the problem, it'll make more sense then." Keeps them from hovering but still makes them feel heard.

Back off" is right. I told a client once that I needed silence to focus and they whispered "sorry sorry sorry" for the next 20 minutes like I was defusing a bomb. That line about explaining things once I find the problem works great too, basically turns you into a fortune teller who can't be interrupted.
