That moment I learned the hard way about torque specs on fridge compressors

I've been doing appliance repair for about 8 years now, mostly in the Austin area, and last Tuesday I had a Samsung fridge where the compressor kept short-cycling. I'd replaced the start relay twice in 3 months and couldn't figure out why. Turns out I was torquing the compressor terminals down like I was changing a car tire, which was cracking the internal connections. A senior tech at the supply house asked me if I used a torque wrench and I laughed, but now I got one and set it to the spec in the manual. Has anyone else ruined a part by just going ham on it with a regular wrench, or am I the only stubborn one?
