Took apart a dryer to find a whole mouse Motel 6 setup

Last Tuesday I pulled the drum out of a GE dryer in Tulsa and found a nest made of dryer sheets and a single flip-flop, plus like 30 acorns. The customer said the loud thumping was just 'settling' sounds, but it was actually a squirrel's pantry falling around every cycle. I vacuumed it all out and found a chewed wire that explained the intermittent burnout smell. Anyone else ever find some crazy animal stash inside a machine that made you question your career choice?

Man, I gotta disagree with you there. Finding a squirrel pantry in a dryer sounds like the highlight of the week, not a reason to question your career. That chewed wire was probably gonna start a fire eventually, so you basically saved that customer's house. I'd take a weird animal nest over a boring clogged vent any day. It's the stories like this that make the job worth talking about at the end of the shift.
