Vent: I've been fighting a losing battle with a certain washer model for years

I've been in this trade for fifteen years, and I just had a moment that made me feel like a rookie. There's a common front-loader model, you all know the one, that kept coming back with the same intermittent drain error. I'd replace the pump, clean the filter, check the hose, and send it out. A month later, the same customer is back. This went on for six months with different units. The tip-off was a call from a guy in my own town who said his neighbor's handyman fixed his by just cleaning the little rubber boot seal around the door. I was so focused on the 'drain' part of the error code I never thought to check for a tiny leak tripping the sensor. I must have wasted a hundred dollars in parts and three hours of my time per job on this. Has anyone else had a simple fix completely blindside them on a machine you thought you knew?

Honestly that sounds like a pretty standard learning curve for appliance repair.

Yeah, I used to think it was way harder.
