Why do people still torque dryer drums by feel? Use the spec, folks

I pulled a dryer apart in Rockford last month and the drum bolts were so loose they'd stripped half the threads. The last guy clearly just snugged them by hand and called it good. The manual says 8 ft-lbs, I checked my torque wrench after the job and it clicked at exactly that. Has anyone else seen this shortcut cause major vibration issues down the line, or am I the only one carrying a torque wrench to every call?
