Had to choose between a real dig and a museum exhibit last year. Picked the wrong one.

Last summer I had to decide between volunteering at the Cahokia Mounds excavation or helping set up a new display at the St. Louis History Museum. I went with the museum gig because it was closer to home and paid a little. But man, hearing the field crew talk about finding a 900 year old pottery shard while I was dusting off a glass case, I really regretted not getting my hands dirty. Has anyone else had to pass up a field opportunity and wish they hadn't?

Man, sometimes the behind-the-scenes stories are way cooler than the actual dig work.

Had a buddy who told me about a time his team found some old coins in a coffee break room wall @mason_ward, totally wild stuff.
