Shoutout to the dirt stain that showed me where to dig at a site in Montana
I was poking around a site near Bozeman last spring and got nowhere for 3 days straight, just random holes and a lot of sore shoulders. A retired guy with a walking stick stopped by and said to look for darker soil patches, and 20 minutes later I pulled up a bison bone fragment that a museum later dated to around the year 1200. Does anyone else have a spot where some random person's tip did the job that all your reading could not?
