Spent two summers bagging and tagging every flake at a site near Mesa Verde before a grad student asked about my screening
Turns out I was pushing the screen too hard and losing all the tiny debitage that actually tells you where the tool making happened. A volunteer with 20 years in the field showed me the right motion, just a gentle rock, and my count of microflakes jumped from like 5 a day to over 40. Any of you ever find out your field method was quietly hiding the good stuff?
