Why does nobody talk about using a cheap drone for site surveys?
Our team in Phoenix was stuck mapping a large pueblo ruin until I borrowed my nephew's $80 drone for an hour. Has anyone else tried this for a quick initial look?

Saw a blog post about a guy who used a cheap drone to check his roof after a storm... saved him a lot of hassle with a ladder. For something like your pueblo ruin, it makes total sense to get that bird's-eye view fast. The pictures probably helped spot walls or patterns you couldn't see from the ground. It's a clever workaround when the budget gear gets the job done.

You mentioned "the pictures probably helped spot walls or patterns you couldn't see from the ground" - did the blog guy's drone actually pick up subtle changes in terrain color or texture, or was it more just a basic photo? I'm wondering if cheap cameras struggle with that kind of detail in bright sun or shadows. Was there a specific trick he used for getting useful data out of those low-res images?
