Can we talk about people saying you don't need a DSLR anymore?

I was totally skeptical when my friend said his iPhone 14 takes just as good photos as my Canon. He showed me some shots from a trip to Portland and honestly, they looked great on Instagram. But then I tried printing one at 11x14 and the noise in the shadows was pretty bad compared to mine. Anyone else find that phones still fall apart when you push them past a small screen?

The one time I tried it with my phone's digital zoom (you know, not the optical kind) on a stray tabby about 20 feet away, the photo came out looking like a blurry watercolor painting. @parkerkim is right, it's pretty funny until you realize your phone just can't pull detail out of thin air. I ended up just walking closer to the cat, which worked way better than any zoom.
