Drove through a tiny town in Vermont and noticed nobody had a single chain restaurant.
I was passing through Middlebury, Vermont last weekend on my way to a hiking spot. Every single storefront was a local place, like a diner that's been there since the 50s and a hardware store with faded paint. It got me thinking about how most towns I see are just strip malls and fast food signs now. Has anyone else found a place that still feels like it's frozen in time?

Actually Middlebury isn't that tiny, it's got a college and like 8,000 people.

Respectfully, 8,000 people is pretty tiny for a town with a college in it. Most college towns I've been to have at least 15,000 or more. Maybe it feels bigger during the school year, but that's still a small population.
