Got called out for mislabeling a hike on my local forum and it stung

I posted a trail recommendation in our town's group for a moderate hike near Silver Falls last week, saying it was a quick 2 mile loop. Turns out I mixed it up with a different path that's actually 4.5 miles with a steep drop near the creek. Someone who actually hiked it that weekend messaged me saying their kid got worn out and they had to turn back way early. I felt awful about it. I immediately edited my post with the real distance and added a warning about the rocky section after the first bridge. The person ended up thanking me for being honest but it made me realize how easy it is to mess up local advice when you're in a hurry. Has anyone else accidentally sent someone the wrong way with bad local info?

Right? I swear trail names and distances are like some kind of local prank I'm never in on. At least you fixed it before someone built a whole expedition out of it.

Wait, the person MESSAGED you directly to call you out instead of just commenting on the post? That's bold. I would've died on the spot if someone did that to me.
