Heads up: I stopped trusting online reviews after getting burned 3 times in a row

I used to just pick the first highly-rated local restaurant or service on Yelp or Google, but after three bad visits in two months I realized something was off. Found out later that some places buy fake reviews or bury the bad ones, and now I only ask in local Facebook groups or Nextdoor for real recommendations. Has anyone else caught a place with suspiciously perfect ratings?

Oh yeah, the "suspiciously perfect ratings" thing is so real. I booked a popular pizza place that had nothing but five stars and it was just okay, like frozen pizza okay. Then I dug around and found a bunch of real people on Reddit saying the same thing I did. Have you found any hidden gems that way?

Go check Yelp's filtered reviews too, those usually have the honest ones hiding.
