I finally asked locals about the best pizza in Chicago and got three completely different answers from three different people on the same street corner

So last week I was in Chicago for a work thing and decided to ask three locals standing near a bus stop on Milwaukee Ave which place had the best deep dish. One guy said Lou Malnati's hands down, the lady next to him swore by Pequod's, and the third person said both were tourist traps and I should go to some tiny spot called Vito and Nick's instead. I ended up trying Lou's and it was good but I'm wondering if I picked the wrong one. Has anyone else asked locals for a recommendation and gotten a split decision like that where you had no clue who to trust?

Ended up hating Lou's after trying Pequod's. Way too much cheese.

That "way too much cheese" line is exactly why I actually prefer Lou's. @troy_owens depends on what you want, Pequod's does that burnt cheese crust thing that's more about texture than actual cheese flavor. Lou's stacks it high with fresh mozzarella that melts different, almost creamy instead of greasy. Different styles for different moods if you ask me.
