I finally stopped asking for directions at the gas station in Dexter
Used to always ask the clerk when I rolled through a new town, until one in Dexter, Maine pointed me the wrong way down Route 7 and cost me 40 minutes. A regular at the counter overheard, walked me out, and drew the actual turn on a napkin without me even asking. Now I just ask whoever is standing outside pumping gas, they know the roads better than anyone behind a register. Anyone else got a spot where the locals outside beat the folks working there?
