Stumbled into a diner in rural Vermont where nobody uses a menu

Went to this place in St. Johnsbury last month, and the owner just asked what I was in the mood for and made it from scratch. No prices listed either, just a tip jar and a chalkboard with the day's specials. Has anyone else run into a spot that operates totally off the books like that?

Just bring cash next time, those places never take cards.

Yeah @skyler516 is totally right about that lol. Nothing more annoying than getting to a place and finding out their card reader is "down" again. I've started keeping a twenty tucked in my phone case just for these spots, saved me more than once. Wish they'd just get with the times but I guess that's too much to ask.
