Moved here 8 months ago and kept seeing posts telling tourists to skip certain trails and diners. I figured it was just snobbery, so I ignored it and hit the Blue Ridge Parkway spot everyone raves about. Crowded, trashy, and I waited 40 minutes for a cold biscuit. Then I tried the diner that locals kept quiet about, $9 for a full plate and no line. Now I respect the insider code, but I still think some of it is overblown.
