TIL the 'hidden gem' pizza place in my town is a total tourist trap now

I saw this place get mentioned again on one of those 'ask the locals' travel blogs, so I figured I'd give it another shot. I hadn't been in a few years. The line was out the door, and the whole vibe was different. They had a new menu with fancy names for everything, and my usual plain cheese slice cost $6. It tasted fine, but it was just a normal slice, you know? The whole point of those local tips is to find the real deal, not the spot that got popular online and changed everything. I guess once a place gets tagged as a 'must visit' by enough visitors, it stops being for the people who live here. Has anyone else had a favorite local spot completely change after it blew up online?

Honestly, good for them. If a place gets popular, they're just smart to raise prices and meet the new demand.

Wait, you think that's actually smart?

Raised my rates for a deck repair gig after I kept getting calls from people who saw my work on a neighbor's house. Ended up with fewer customers but better pay for the same amount of work. Felt weird at first, but the people who did hire me never complained about the price. Long as you're not gouging people, it works out.
