Crossed 500 deep sky shots last night and it finally clicked
I've been stacking and processing astro photos for like 3 years now and hit image 500 last night. That one shot of M51 was the first time I actually felt like my noise reduction and color calibration were totally right. How long did it take you before your edits started looking pro?

...and then I realized I'd been calibrating my monitor wrong the whole time. I spent like a year wondering why my colors looked muddy on my phone but crisp on the desktop. Turns out my monitor was set to vivid mode and I was basically editing photos that looked good only in that one specific setup. Once I switched to the sRGB profile and did a proper brightness calibration, my noise reduction clicked too because I could actually see what the data was doing. Pro is a stretch for me still but I don't hate my edits anymore.

Did your friend ever figure out they were editing in the wrong color space too? lol I had a buddy who spent months making photos look "perfect" on his laptop, then cried when they came out trash on everyone else's screens. He finally recalibrated and said it was like seeing color for the first time again.
