Hot take: That one guy at the observatory who told me my stacked images were cheating

I was at a public viewing night at Griffith last month and this older guy looks at my monitor and says 'stacking isn't real astrophotography, you're just faking data.' Has anyone else run into gatekeepers like that or was it just my bad luck?

And you just gotta let that stuff roll off your back, man. Honestly, those old school guys usually never had access to the software we do now, so they don't get how stacking makes the signal pop without faking anything. Keep doing your thing and let the final image speak for itself.

My buddy Dave ran into the same thing last year after he posted a stack of Andromeda, and this one guy basically told him he was cheating by using modern software. @skylerc86 is right, the final image is the only thing that really matters in the end.
