PSA: I was stacking my planetary shots wrong for 3 months

I spent 3 months stacking Jupiter images in RegiStax without checking the alignment box. The images always came out blurry and I just thought my scope needed collimation. Then a guy on CloudyNights pointed out that I was basically smearing 2000 frames together. He said try AutoStakkert with a 75% quality filter instead. The difference was night and day, I got a clear band detail on my very next try. Has anyone else struggled with stacking settings on lunar shots?

I heard AutoStakkert works better for lunar too since it handles surface contrast.

Does AutoStakkert's surface contrast handling mess with deep shadows at all?

AutoStakkert is a lifesaver for lunar too, saved me hours of garbage frames.
