Shoutout to whoever suggested stacking shorter exposure shots instead of one long one
I used to always do 30-second single exposures for deep sky objects, but after I tried stacking 10-second subs last month I got way more detail with way less star trailing, has anyone else made that switch and noticed a big difference?

Wait, you mean I didn't have to cry over star trails this whole time?

@simontorres Star trails are a rite of passage. We all went through it. Stacking software changed everything. I still keep a few of my old blurry shots though. Reminds me how far we've come.

Honest question though, 10 second subs at what gain or ISO? I tried stacking 15 second subs once and the read noise just killed my signal even with 200 frames. Ended up going back to 30 to 45 seconds at a lower ISO on my Canon. You gotta find that sweet spot for your specific camera sensor.
