Showerthought: I chose a star tracker over a fast lens for the Milky Way and my shots got worse
Snagged a used Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer on Facebook for $180 instead of putting that cash toward a 20mm f/1.4, thinking longer subs at f/4 would beat shorter ones wide open. Three trips out to Joshua Tree later and my stars are trailing every single time, probably because I rushed the polar alignment in the cold. Anyone got a good trick for nailing alignment without a laptop out in the field?
