Tbh I just learned from a documentary that the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image contains about 10,000 galaxies in a patch of sky the size of a grain of sand held at arm's length, which is a wild thing to think about.

Honestly, I was just watching a space doc on my couch last night and that stat made me put my snack down and just stare at the screen for a minute.

Forget the grain of sand, that's the easy part. The hard part is really feeling that each of those smudges is a whole galaxy full of its own stars and worlds. It just makes the whole idea of scale feel totally broken, doesn't it?

Hmm, I kinda see it differently. When I look up it's more about the feeling of being part of this huge thing, not feeling small. Like those galaxies and stars are still connected to us through gravity and light and stuff. Scale doesn't break for me, it just makes me feel like I belong to something bigger.
