Threw $250 down the drain on a star tracker mount last year
I bought this budget star tracker off Amazon for $250 thinking it'd help me get those crisp long exposure shots without breaking the bank. First night out, it couldn't even hold my DSLR steady for a 30-second shot without drifting all over the place. Tried it four more times at different locations near Austin and every single frame came out blurry. I should've just saved up for a used Sky-Watcher instead of wasting money on that junk. Has anyone else had luck with a star tracker under $500?

$250 for a star tracker that can't hold steady for 30 seconds sounds about right for Amazon specials. Mine came with a manual that was basically a page of bad Chinese translations and a warranty that expired while I was still trying to figure out how to reset the calibration. At least you have a very expensive paperweight now that matches your decor.

Totally agree, mine did the same thing... ended up using it as a doorstop after the third failed alignment. Guess we both learned the hard way that cheap trackers are just expensive lessons.
