After watching that frame bench demo in Nashville, my mind changed on measuring tapes
I went to the SEMA aftermarket show last month and watched a tech show a car that had been hit twice in the same spot, and he proved the frame was pulling 3 millimeters off just from a bad tape job on the first repair. Since then, I quit trusting my old 25-foot stanley and started using a digital caliper for any panel gap check, even on quick estimates. Does anyone else think we rely too much on eyeballing when a $60 tool would save us from comebacks?

One bad tape job and now every panel gap needs a caliper? That seems like a stretch. Cars get hit, frames shift, and a tape measure tells you if something is way off. You can see a 3 millimeter gap with your eyes if you know what to look for. Sure, digital tools are nice for court cases or insurance fights, but a shop that does good work doesnt need to measure every single repair to the thousandth. Sounds like that demo just got in your head.
