Dropped $310 on a paint matching system that kept giving me the wrong shade
I bought a used paint matching camera setup for $310 from a guy in Modesto back in March, thinking it would speed up my blending on silver and pearl jobs. It kept spitting out formulas that were 2 to 3 shades off, and I burned through almost a whole quart of PPG doing test sprays before I figured out the calibration card was scratched. Went back to my old trick of taping a sprayout card to the panel and eyeballing it in daylight, and honestly my matches got better. Anyone else get burned on cheap matching gear, or am I the only one who fell for it?
