I think we're all overdoing it with the clear coat layers
Lately I see guys putting on four or five coats of clear, especially on custom jobs. I've been doing this for 12 years and I think that's way too much. I did a test panel last month, two coats versus four, and after baking them both, the four-coat panel took almost twice as long to fully cure and was way more likely to run. A good two medium-wet coats, sanded and buffed right, will last just as long and is easier to work with. Has anyone else cut back and seen better results?
