Overheard a customer at the parts counter say 'just make it look good'

They were talking about a quarter panel repair on a 2018 Civic. The estimator was trying to explain the blend process and the guy just waved his hand. Said he didn't care about the steps, just the final look. Took me back. We spend hours on prep, blocking, color matching. All that work is invisible if you do it right. But some people think it's just slapping paint on. How do you explain the value of the process to someone who only sees the result?

It's frustrating when the craft gets reduced to just the final look. All those hidden steps are what actually make it look good and last. People just don't see the work that goes into a proper finish.

Ugh, my friend's new cabinets looked great until the paint started peeling. The guy totally skipped the primer step to save time.
