Saw a Corolla come back 7 months after my respray and it looked like crap already

I painted a 2010 Corolla back in March for a guy who wanted it done cheap. Mixed up some Sherwin-Williams single stage, shot it in my booth on a Saturday. Looked decent when it left. He rolled back in yesterday with the hood and roof peeling clear and the color faded to a weird pinkish shade on the decklid. Guy said he left it parked outside at his job site near the airport every single day with no cover. I get it that Arizona sun is brutal but man that paint job lasted maybe 6 months before it started going south. I used the same batch of paint on a customer's garage-kept Civic that same week and it still looks fine. Has anyone else had Sherwin single stage fail that fast in direct sun or did I just get a bad gallon?

Yeah but I mean... you painted it cheap for a guy who probably told his buddies "yeah this guy did it for a steal" and now it's your fault the Arizona sun ate it alive. That's the painter's curse right there - do someone a favor and it comes back to haunt you. Maybe it's just me but I've noticed Sherwin's single stage is like that one friend who's cool in the shade but turns into a total mess in direct sunlight. Honestly the Civic is probably still in someone's garage getting babied while that Corolla's out there baking like a potato. Kinda sounds like the paint did exactly what it was paid to do though.

That Sherwin batch probably had a personality, just like a shady mechanic I knew who only fixed cars on cloudy days.
