Spent 4 hours chasing a door gap on a 2022 Silverado

I was aligning a new door on a Silverado and the gap at the bottom was off by 3mm. Took me 4 hours to realize the hinge pillar was tweaked 2mm out of spec from a prior hit. Has anyone else had factory pillars throw off your gaps like that?

Used to think most gap issues were just installer error or me being too picky with the tolerances. Had a similar fight on an F-150 door once, spent half a day before I broke out the tram gauge and found the pillar was a full 2.5mm out from the factory weld. Changed my whole approach now I always check the pillar measurements first before I start messing with hinges or shims.

Wait hold on, you had a pillar weld off by that much from the factory?
