Switched from blend to single-stage primer after 3 years of fighting orange peel

I was dead set on using a blendable 2K primer for everything, thought it was the only way to get good results on multi-panel jobs. Then a guy at the NAPA counter handed me a quart of Sikkens Autoclear single-stage surfacer and told me to try it on a quarter panel job I had last month. One pass, no orange peel, sanded flat in half the time. Has anyone else found that switching primer types solved their finish issues?

One pass, no orange peel" - I dunno man, that sounds like a prep problem, not a primer problem.

Yeah, I used to think it was all prep too but that Sikkens stuff changed my mind.
