Warning: That cheap filler primer from Harbor Freight cracked on me after 3 days

I used it on a 2012 Ford Focus fender repair last Thursday. Sanded it smooth, let it dry 24 hours like the can said. Came back Sunday and the whole thing looked like a dry lake bed. Had to strip it down to bare metal and start over with some 3M stuff I grabbed from the local paint supply place in Tacoma. Anyone else run into this with the budget primers?

Had the opposite experience honestly. Used that stuff on a rusty Tacoma bumper about six months ago and it's still holding up fine. Maybe you got a bad can or the humidity was just wrong that day.

The can I had worked fine on my Silverado's frame rail about eight months back. Surface prep probably matters more than the brand of rust converter. Maybe your bumper had some oil or wax still on it.
