Bought a $300 borescope and it paid for itself in a day
Had a customer with a weird misfire on a V6, codes pointed to cylinder 3 but compression was fine. I was about to pull the head to check the valves, but decided to try the new borescope first. Snaked it in through the spark plug hole and immediately saw a huge carbon chunk stuck on the intake valve, clear as day. Saved me hours of labor and the customer a ton of money. Anyone else have a tool that saved your butt recently?

My cheap twenty dollar one from Harbor Freight just shows me blurry, sad shapes. I spent fifteen minutes trying to figure out if a shadow was a crack or just my own regret.
