Decided to stick with the old Snap-on scanner instead of the new tablet-based system
About a year ago, the shop owner gave us a choice: keep using the trusty old Snap-on Solus Ultra we all knew, or switch to their new tablet system with a monthly fee. I picked the old one. It just felt right in my hands, and I already knew every menu and code by heart. The new one had flashy graphics, but it took twice as long to pull up a simple live data stream. I figured out a weird CAN bus fault on a 2012 F-150 last month that the new system's tech said was 'no communication.' The old box just needed a reset. Anyone else feel like the new tools are built for sales, not for us turning wrenches?

Built for sales, not for wrenches" hits the nail on the head.

Wait, the new system couldn't even see that CAN bus fault? @the_vera is right, that's just built to sell subscriptions.
