Had a customer last month who wouldn't let me touch his truck until I washed my hands first

Guy pulled in with a 2015 F-150, rough idle, check engine light on. Before I popped the hood he stopped me and said "wash your hands first, I just detailed it." Looked clean enough but I went and scrubbed up anyway. Turned out it was just a clogged MAF sensor, took me maybe 20 minutes to clean it and reset the code. He watched the whole time like I was performing surgery. Charged him $40 for diag and he tipped me $20 because I didn't make a mess under his hood. Anyone else run into customers who are super particular about stuff like that?

Man, I had a guy once who made me put on those little blue booties (like the crime scene investigators wear) before I even got near his Camaro. Cleanest engine bay I've ever seen, almost felt bad getting my grubby paws anywhere near it. Made a point to wipe everything down after - that's just good business, you know?

About 15 years ago I had a customer with a vintage Mustang, a 1969 Boss 429, and he asked me to take my shoes off before I even opened the hood. His garage floor was so clean you could eat off it, and the engine looked like it had just come off the assembly line. I actually bought a pair of those blue booties after that, just kept them in my tool bag for times like that. Funny how one customer's habits can change your own.
