Swapped my torque wrench habit after stripping a bolt on a 2005 F-150

I was under the hood of a buddy's F-150 last Friday trying to tighten a header bolt and it just kept spinning. Turns out I'd been using my old click-style torque wrench at the wrong setting for years because I never recalibrated it after dropping it off a fender. Any of you guys actually send yours in for calibration regularly or do you just trust the click like I did?

Man, you just reminded me of the time I snapped a bolt clean off an old tractor because my torque wrench was way off. I dropped mine off the tailgate of my truck and never even thought about the click being wrong until it was too late. Now I just beat the thing against a tire before every job to make sure the mechanism hasn't locked up or something stupid.

Huh, @brookepark, I gotta say I see it the other way. Beating it against a tire sounds like it could mess up the calibration even more over time. I just keep mine in the padded case and check the zero now and then with a simple beam wrench.
