Wasted $150 on a junkyard transmission that was worse than my original

Pulled a 4L60E from a 2002 Silverado at Pick-n-Pull last month. Guy said it shifted fine. Got it home, swapped it in, and it slips in 3rd gear worse than the one I took out. Spent 3 days on my back for nothing. Any of you guys had luck with junkyard transmissions or is it just a gamble I should have skipped?

Man that's the unluckiest draw imaginable! Sounds like you grabbed a transmission from a truck that was already trading paint with the junkyard dirt. Maybe that guy who said it was fine was the same guy selling tickets to the moon landing! Next time try bringing a multimeter and at least checking the solenoids before you pull it, but even that's no guarantee. Pick-n-Pull has a 30 day warranty on some stuff too, so you might be able to swap it out for another gamble. At least you didn't pay a shop $1800 to install a reman one that fails in a year!

Man that multimeter trick saved me on a starter once but you're right it's still a total crapshoot sometimes.
