The finance guy at my dealer in Boise told me the average repair bill is $650, and that number stuck with me
I was in for an oil change and he just said it while I was waiting. Said most people don't have that sitting around when something big breaks. I always figured it was a few hundred at most. I went home and checked my own records and my last two repairs were $410 and $780. The $780 one was a water pump I didn't see coming. Now I'm looking at my coverage and wondering if the math actually works out or if I'm paying for peace of mind. Has anyone done the real math on what they've paid in premiums vs what they've gotten back?
