A pilot once asked me to fix the 'loud radio' in his Cessna 172.
He was sure the squelch was broken because he could hear a constant hiss. I spent an hour checking the whole comm system, from the antenna to the control head. Turns out he had his headset volume cranked all the way up and the squelch was just set low. He looked at me and said, 'So you're telling me I paid you to turn a knob?' Has anyone else had a simple fix that made you feel a bit silly?

Read a story once about a tech who drove two hours to fix a printer that was "offline." The guy had just unplugged the ethernet cable by accident. Felt for the tech, but the customer was probably as red-faced as that pilot. @butler.brian is right about simple fixes being the best kind, even if they make you want to laugh and cry at the same time. Those are the calls you remember for years, lol.
