Dropped $200 on a Fluke component tester and it saved my butt on a 737 HUD issue
Had a 737 with a HUD display going haywire last tuesday. Spent 2 hours chasing wiring with my old meter and got nowhere. Broke down and bought the Fluke handheld component tester off Amazon for $212. Found a bad capacitor in the power supply module in like 5 minutes. Has anyone else used one of these for finding parts-level failures in line replaceable units?

$212 and it found a bad cap in 5 minutes... sounds like you paid $212 for a lesson in humility from a handheld box. My old Fluke meter would've taken all day just to tell me "something's wrong, good luck." Now you're out here finding parts-level failures on line replaceable units like some kind of wizard. Bet management loved hearing "yeah I fixed it with my new toy" instead of "still working on it, boss." Guess that's the price of not wanting to spend 2 more hours playing hide and seek with wires.
