PSA: Wiring manuals for updated planes are often wrong

I just spent a full shift tracing wires because the diagrams did not show recent mods. This seems to happen a lot with jets that have had avionics upgrades over the years. Our shop's digital docs are not getting the revised pages on time. It adds so much extra work to simple jobs.

Tell me about it. My personal favorite was chasing a phantom ground for three hours. The manual showed it going to a terminal block that got removed in an STC two years ago. The actual wire was just tied back and taped, buried in a bundle. Felt real smart after that one.

Honestly though, that trace work is just part of the job. You can't expect the paper to always be perfect, you still gotta verify everything yourself.

Two years ago, I believed that once a report was printed, it was good to go. Then I caught a missing circuit trace on page 14 that would have fried the whole board. Now I double-check every single line before signing off. What was the biggest catch you've found from not trusting the paper?
