Thought bench power supplies were overpriced junk until a bad one ate my radio

I blew out a $400 comm radio last month using a cheap 30 amp switcher because the ripple voltage was way higher than spec and it fried the receiver front end. Has anyone else lost gear to a sketchy power supply before they wised up?

Man, that sucks! My buddy Tom had a cheap switching supply pop a cap and send 24 volts AC through his HF rig. Fried the whole power amp section, radio was totally toast. He found out the hard way too, that thing was supposed to be "regulated" but it was all lies.
