A ranger in Glacier told me my pacing plan was backwards
I was planning a 4 day trip on the Highline Trail and had my big climb day mapped for day 2. This ranger at the St. Mary visitor center looked at my itinerary and laughed, said most folks burn out going hard that early. He suggested easing in with a shorter leg first, then hitting the elevation when your legs are warmed up. I switched it around and honestly the whole trip felt way smoother. Has anyone else gotten route advice from a park ranger that totally flipped their plan?
